Pittsburgh, PA – Amber VanVickle sadly passed away today Thursday, February 23, 2023. Amber passed away tragically and sadly, leaving her family, close relatives, and other loved ones in utter despair. Since Amber’s cancer diagnosis in 2019, many Catholics worldwide have been following the VanVickle family because she has been so brave and honest in speaking about her battle. Unfortunately, Amber’s family announced today that she has died and they shared some heartwarming pictures and a moving statement on social media that touched many people’s hearts.

Amber was known for her brave fight against an illness that has already spread to her colon, lungs, and liver and for her passionate faith and fearless honesty in blogging about her own spiritual challenges even before receiving the devastating news that she is going into hospice.

She has spoken honestly about issues like suffering and unanswered prayers in a thoughtful and moving manner. She has poured her heart out here at the Register, taking readers through the heart’s painful cries, the dark moments when one feels abandoned by God, and through to a wisdom that fills a mother’s heart like mine with such hope, gratitude, and welling eyes. She is a devoted mother of five children, two of whom have special needs.

Funeral arrangements will be officially released by the family.
