CONNELLSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – On her way home from eating ice cream on Sunday night in Connellsville Township, a 16-year-old girl was struck and killed by a suspected intoxicated driver. Just after 7:30 p.m., according to state police, a crash occurred on East Crawford Avenue. Bailey Vivid, 16, was the teen killed, according to family and friends. According to court records, Veitch was struck outside Geibel Catholic High School while returning home after stopping at a Dairy Queen. Police said that the motorist fled, but Veitch’s neighbors hurriedly came outside to assist him. Later, she passed away at a hospital.
Police were able to identify the car with the use of surveillance footage from the adjacent residences and school. Police claimed they were able to find the motorist at a petrol station a few miles distant a short while afterward. Police said the vehicle had significant damage, and ice cream was found on multiple parts of the truck.

Mark Lucic, 42, is being held in the Fayette County jail. Court documents indicate Lucic is from Canada, and he allegedly told troopers he was staying a Seven Springs as part of a business trip. Police said Lucic blamed his GPS for taking him in the wrong direction.
Veitch was a sophomore in the Connellsville Area School District. Officials said counselors will be made available to staff. A GoFundMe has been started to help cover funeral costs.
