Early on Wednesday evening in Portage County, a single-car collision claimed the life of the driver, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to OSHP, the collision occurred on Rootstown Road at 5:22 p.m. on August 10 in Rootstown Township, just east of Lakewood Road.
According to OSHP, the 1999 Ford Ranger’s driver was traveling northwest on Rootstown Road when she veered off the road and collided with a tree. According to OSHP, she had to be removed from the truck and was declared dead there.

She was recognized by OSHP as Rootstown resident Robin Marie, 55. According to OSHP, she was transferred to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office. Marie was not using a seatbelt at the time of the collision, according to OSHP. For almost two hours, Township Road 106 was stopped in both directions as workers cleaned up the scene.
According to OSHP, the site was helped by the Rootstown Fire Department, Brimfield Fire Department, Portage County Sheriff’s Office, and Portage County Coroner’s Office.
