NORTH CANTON, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that a 52-year-old woman is deceased following a deadly car accident on State Route (SR) 172 in Stark County. The event happened on Monday around 3:50 p.m. in Osnaburg Township, close to milepost 21 on SR 172. The accident involved three vehicles in total: a Dodge van driven by 35-year-old Scott Henning of Minerva, a Dodge van driven by 26-year-old William Eyer V of Minerva, and a Jeep station wagon driven by 52-year-old Denise Decker of East Canton.
The Chevy van was stopped in eastbound traffic when the Dodge van rear-ended it, according to a preliminary examination into the collision. Pushing left of center into oncoming traffic, the Chevy van collided with the westbound Jeep station wagon. Off the right side of the road, the Dodge van came to an end. The Stark County Coroner declared Decker, the Jeep’s driver, died at the scene of the collision.
Regarding the state of the other drivers, no further details have been made public. Scott Henning and Denise Decker were both restrained at the time of the collision. Drugs and alcohol were not thought to have had a role in the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
