A memorial fund-raiser has been established by Arielle Anderson’s family in honor of the Michigan State University student who died in the campus shooting on Monday. A vigil and service have also been scheduled. On a GoFundMe page, Timothy Davis, Anderson’s uncle, said, “We appreciate any donations and all the love and support during this time.” As of Friday morning, more than $25,000 of the $50,000 target had been received.
Alexandria Verner, 20, of Clawson, and Brian Fraser, 20, of Grosse Pointe were the two additional victims; both were students. Hospitalized were five more injured individuals. According to officials, one of the shooting victims has been upgraded from a critical to a stable state.
Anderson, 19, of Harper Woods, was regarded as intelligent, inspirational, and modest by family members. She wanted to get into medicine. She spent the summer working with elderly people. In 2021, Anderson received his high school diploma from Grosse Pointe North.
“We lost our precious daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Arielle Anderson. She means the world to us. As much as we loved her, she loved us and others even more. She was passionate about helping her friends and family, assisting children, and serving people,” the family said in a statement this week. Anderson was working to graduate early from MSU.

A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 800 Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods, across from Grosse Pointe North High School. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Q A Cantrell Funeral Home on 22121 Kelly Road in Eastpointe. The funeral will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 4867 Van Dyke Street in Detroit.
Support for the victims of Monday’s deadly shooting at Michigan State has been overwhelming. Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez, the older sister of one of the injured, created a GoFundMe page and stated that her family members expected to be burdened with expenses and regular payments. By of Friday morning, the fundraising had brought in more than $396,000. According to her sister, Huapilla-Perez is a junior studying hotel business at MSU.
A memorial scholarship in Fraser’s honor has also been established by his fraternity, MSU’s Phi Delta Theta chapter. As of Friday morning, more than $56,000 of a $75,000 target had been raised. The chapter’s president at the time was Fraser.
“Funds raised in Brian’s memory will support the Brian Fraser Presidential Memorial Scholarship, which will help future Michigan Beta presidents fund their education. It is our hope at Phi Delta Theta and the hope of Brian’s parents that each Phi who receives this scholarship will embody Brian’s charismatic, contagious smile and caring, loyal energy,” according to organizers.
