The passing of Marcos Alonso Pena is being lamented by the football community. According to “Marca,” the former Spanish player died at the age of 63 following a protracted illness. The father of current Barcelona footballer Marcos Alonso was Marcos Alonso Pena. Additionally, he was Marquitos, the son of the football player Marcos Alonso Imaz.
With Racing Santander, he made his professional debut in 1977. Before joining Atletico Madrid, he played for the Cantabrian club for two seasons. Because of his speed on the wing, he started to stand out with the “Colchoneros.” Before Barcelona made the decision to sign him, he played for Madrid for three years.
He won the most titles during his most productive playing years at Camp Nou. Before going back to Atletico Madrid, he won two League Cups, a Super Cup, a Copa del Rey, and a La Liga championship. He had previously played for Rayo Vallecano, Racing Santander, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Valaldolid, Malaga, and Granada 74 before joining Logrones and Racing Santander as a coach.
