Oak Cliff, TX – Liegea Lopez a resident of Oak Cliff, a neighborhood in Dallas County, Texas unexpectedly passed away in a tragic car accident on Monday, February 6, 2023. Lopez succumbed to the injuries sustained from the incident. The circumstances behind the incident are yet to be released to the general public Friends, family, and loved ones have paid their respect to Liegea Lopez across social media platforms.

Liegea meant a lot to me personally and what started out as a respect for everything she did for Oak Cliff turned into a real friendship. I would describe Liegea as having one of the biggest hearts of anyone I have ever met. She would stop what she is doing at the drop of a hat to help someone in need. She was bigger than life, with a huge personality and a passion for helping our community. I will miss her greatly.
Who was Liegea Lopez?
Liegea Lopez was born and brought up in Dallas, Texas. She was described as an amazing friend to everyone in the community, she had a serving heart of gold. Lopez was a business owner and dedicated community leader in Oak Cliff. She was a member of The 23rd Senatorial District Tejano Democrats.
Jennifer Torres, Lopez’s daughter-in-law created a Gofundme campaign for the funeral expenses of Liegea Lopez.

On Monday night, hundreds of neighbors gathered at Levine’s on Jefferson Boulevard for a candlelight memorial to remember Liegea Lopez, a cherished local activist. Lopez was hurt in a car accident early on Monday and passed away as a result of her wounds. Lopez’s automobile was allegedly struck head-on by a wrong-way driver on Dowdy Ferry Road, according to friends close to Lopez’s family.
Lopez ran Bishop Barbers, which she used as her center of operations for neighborhood initiatives. The vigil was held in the parking lot of the department store Levine’s. According to friends of Lopez, she frequently hosted and attended local activities including concerts, raffles, and cookouts there.
