KANSAS CITY, Mo. – According to his family, Ron Williams, the proprietor of the renowned barbecue restaurant Wyandot BBQ, passed away over the weekend. He was 78. In 1977, Williams opened his first establishment, which is still in business today, at 8441 State Avenue in Kansas City.
He then opened a second site in Overland Park, which reopened in November after being shut down for more than a year due to an oven fire. According to his family, he collapsed and passed away from heart failure.
On Saturday, February 25, both Wyandot BBQ restaurants will be closed for the first time in their 46-year history due to Williams’ funeral liturgy and viewing.
