George Giannakakis Obituary – Officials Monday revealed the identity of the 73-year-old man who died in a two-car crash near Lake Villa on Friday night. According to the Lake County coroner’s office on Monday, George Giannakakis of Ingleside passed away as a result of blunt force trauma brought on by the collision.
A 74-year-old local man was operating a GMC Acadia south of Route 132 in an unincorporated area when he drifted into the southbound lanes and collided with a Kia Sorento being driven by Giannakakis, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office on Saturday. According to the police, witnesses saw the GMC swerve before striking the Kia in the front.
Both drivers suffered significant injuries and were taken by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Giannakakis was declared deceased at the hospital.
