Lodgepole, South Dakota – Dr. Lisa Henderson sadly passed away on February 25, 2023, at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND at 53. Lisa had previously suffered a severe stroke on February 12th at home in Lodgepole, South Dakota. Dr. Lisa was a cherished member of West River Veterinary Clinic and a true role model for the kind of vet that we all aspire to be. She spent her entire life caring for various animals.

Dr. Lisa Henderson spent her entire life caring for various animals. She had a kind heart, and the clinic could feel her sense of serenity. She genuinely cared about the people she worked with, the people she served, and the lucky creatures she got to treat. Dr. H was meticulous in her job and investigated every aspect of the diagnosis and care of each animal she came across.

The West River Veterinary Clinic released a statement following Dr. Lisa Henderson’s death.

It is with great sadness and the utmost regret that we announce the passing of our cherished friend, mentor, and colleague, Dr. Lisa Henderson. Dr. Lisa was a beloved member of our hospital and truly an example of what type of veterinarian we all strive to be. She devoted her life to the care of countless animals. She was a gentle soul whose sense of calm and peace radiated throughout the clinic. She truly cared for her coworkers, her clients and the pets that were lucky enough to have her as their doctor.

Dr. H was diligent when it came to her work and left no stone unturned when it came to the diagnosis and treatment of every animal she encountered. Her thoroughness was always admired. Her loss leaves a hole in all our hearts and our clinic family will never be the same.

We ask that you please keep Dr. Henderson’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as well as her extended family here at West River Veterinary Clinic. For those of you that knew Dr. Lisa and called her a friend or trusted her with your pet’s care, please know that you are also in our thoughts. We will miss her tremendously, but we will forever be grateful for her friendship and the expert care she provided to our hospital, our pet parents, and their beloved pets. Please feel free to share your thoughts or a story as to how Dr. Lisa touched your or your pets life.

A Facebook user Keri Lewton wrote, “She was great with our pets. She always took the time to really find out what was wrong and did everything she could to fix them if she could. She was the one that figured out my sweet Bubba had cancer and was so kind through the process of letting him go. Prayers for all of you and her family. Such a wonderful person she was.”

Ted Uecker said, “She was incomparable. She cared. She always did her best. And was always compassionate for our pets and us. What a terrible loss Wade, their family, our vet clinic and area community. They broke the mold when Dr. Lisa came into this world. Prayers.”
